( They've made their way to the entrance of a path into darker, cooler woods, and for a moment Elijah's reminded of field trips he'd taken as a kid, of the origins of feeling like the only kid in the world who could get claustrophobic outdoors. He waits out Dominic, who stands and peers into the trees, listening to the crackle and pretty static of leaves and insects and birds, until he gets bored of it, pushing his rucksack into Dominic's hands and marching off ahead down the path. )
