Question

Love, love, love this whole series. But I have a question- How old are Billy and Dom supposed to be during this? Billy is constantly referring to himself as "old" so I was just curious. (can't log into LJ at work-sorry)

Thank you. Glad you like it :)

Dominic is 21/22 and Billy is fifteen years older. (poetic license)

I absolutely adore lotruniversity. It's one of the best series I've ever read. Really well-written, excellent characterisation.

(In fact it works so well that it's inspired me and a couple of fellow authors to use a similar LJ format for a collaborative non-AU fic we're writing. Imitation being the sincerest form of flattery, consider yourselves flattered!)

Hmmm. A story about the LOTR boys in a University setting? Innnnnnteresting. I might try reading it one day. See if it appeals to me. *beams*

Oh, I've been following this forever and I'm sure there's no way to accurately convey to y'all the joy that sweeps over me when I see the comment count is up from the last time I checked. Even if it's just by one! I refresh constantly. Sometimes I catch y'all in mid-tig, you know? When the comments are really flying? That's when I pop some popcorn and settle in, omg.

One thing that's been particularly on my mind since Tuesday (I assume I can comment again if there's something else on my mind tomorrow?) is how wonderfully you've matched up the back story with the original drabble series. After reading Torrential I went straight on into Dom acts on his crush and honestly I expected there to be a lot of dissonance there. I know that sounds negative, but what I mean is that from my own faulty memory (it's been awhile, after all) I remembered Billy as being more angry and cold, whereas all this backstory has made him seem as torn and desperate as Dom, almost. So I thought that when I reread I wouldn't see it, but guess what? (I know you already know, ha ha) it was there all along! As I was reading along I was thinking how wonderfully you filled it in, how perfectly it fit. I'm doubly impressed and terribly grateful to y'all for sharing. Keep it up. Long live [livejournal.com profile] lotruniversity.

I also appreciate the fact that Elijah and Cate are well written and interesting rather than just throwaway additions to add peril or drama. I truly want to know what's going to happen with both of them, and that's saying something when you know what a Monaboyd fan I am.

Thank you to all. It's great to be able to comment and say it again! Now stop reading and start tigging!

Hi, distracting myself by reading comments. I have to agree with this. I find myself reading current threads and then going back and reading the original drabbles and feel more like everything was completely planned out from the very start.

And things that I didn't understand when I first read the drabbles are so very very clear now.

Lovely.

Hey, its about friggin time you got a forum for your most ardent fans. I have just adored this series forEVAH it seems like. I think all of you have done an incredible job of writing four very different characters. I absolutely adore the spark, flash and romance between Dom and Billy. Just gorgeous. I have also enjoyed just as avidly the characters of Professor Cate and Student Elijah. You could chose to write them as villians but instead I think of them as just being totally self-absorbed.

Now just one question: Recently our Dom and Billy writers have been going back in time prior to Dom finally making a pass at Billy. I can't help but wonder if you all regret how that episode was written. Its fascinating to read the backstory but also a bit, uhmmm disconcerting when you know how Dom is going to come on to Billy ulitmately. Ahh, but its your baby so you can go back and forth through time as you wish. Whatever, JUST KEEP DOING IT!

I must add my voice to those who sing your praises. I really do love this series, and hope that it continues for a nice, long time. I love the gradual revealing of these characters, and am looking forward to Billy and Dominic talking to each other directly about much of this. I love the poignancy of their relationship, and am hoping that you will allow it to strengthen over time.

Thank you so much for this.

I absolutely *adore* this AU. As I do not have the gift for words as you all have, I unfortunately cannot fully express all that I love about the detailed character descriptions and character arcs and storylines, oh, and the slashy bits of course. I check back here religiously to check up on unfinished works, and it's like a bit of melty candy when new parts are posted.

Keep up the good work.....please.

Well, I'm pretty sure [livejournal.com profile] lotrunidom knows how much I've been enjoying lotruniversity, but I wanted to tell the rest of you how much I've been enjoying this, checking back regularly for at least two or three months now.

I've also been enjoying your recent foray into the backstory of Dom and Billy's relationship, and the way Dom ultimately makes his intentions clear to Billy actually make much more sense now, as well as how Billy reacts, when read after the 'build-up' threads... their increasing desperation and frustration (and is it weird that all through the 'Torrential' thread, all I keep thinking is 'go on, *do* something!!', even though I know nothing is really supposed to happen then... god, I'm an addict!!)

When are you guys gonna write the initial break-up thread then? Because I think that's going to break a few hearts and require much chocolate to read! I reckon you'll do it well though, so I look forward to seeing where you take all these delicious ideas and threads.

This is an absolutely gorgeous AU and I've been following it for a while, loving it more and more with every read! I check for new posts daily ,and on my days off, like today, sometimes hourly. (*^_^*) Whenever there's a new thread or a new comment posted it's so exciting.

Excellent writing and characterization all around. I am madly in love with Professor Boyd, too bad for me. ::laughs:: Today's email post between him and Dom when he said he'd like to read the lines of muscle in Dom's forearm... Well, I almost died. Beautiful!

I don't have any questions for now but you'll hear from me again soon with more love and praises! (Except one small thing - are you planning to continue Acquiescence soon? 'Cause that thread is, uh, thebestthingever. ::quits begging:: ::blushes:: Thanks!)

Thank you all so much for this. If ever I'm fired from my job, it'll be because I spend too much time riffling through to see if there have been any updates to the open tigs.

This work you four have created is an absolute monster. It has come to rule my life. When I'm not checking for updates, I'm making up my own little stories - and when I'm not doing that, I'm playing the Sims, wherein I have a lotruniversity neighborhood - completely with student!Dom, Prof!Billy, Cate, and Elijah... though I took a little creative license and gave Billy and Dom a puppy... but, eh, back to the complimenting and such: You people have taken over my mind, and I hope you're happy about that, because I know I certainly am ;) Wonderful, wonderful job.

Oh, this is nice. Thank you.

I'm hooked. I've been following along for a long time, and just want to say thank you for so many hours of lovely reading and rereading, distraction when I need it, tears, giggles, goggles, and hot loving.

May you continue to enjoy your creation of it as much as I have :)

reading through the other entries, i see that, while i may have been among the first to love this story, i am not the only one to love it best.

last fall, when i caught a passing mention of student/prof au tigs, and searched for them, i had no idea that i was to be drawn into the lives of such lovely, wonderful, imperfect, yet brilliant people...and their characters.

what i wrote in that email, so long ago, still stands: these characters are real to me, and every time fear, lonliness, self doubt and bitterness are met and matched by love, faith, desire and belief that a "happily ever after" just might be possible, i nod and say "amen."

thank you, ladies, for your time, effort, and most of all, belief that a handful of drabbles and a tossed of thread in another's lj could evolve into a world of its own.

thank you.

I stumbled upon this quite by accident, while clicking on random links in my friend's LJ. It was around the time that "Learning to be still" and I think the ending to the first thread was approaching; anyways I was at work and my boss clicked on the link when it was minimized cuz she had to use my computer. (and I'm a L&D nurse so I should have been watching and attending to poor women in labor) Anyways, she started reading the threads and immediately got hooked on it, almost as- dare I say it- obsessed as I am with it. ( Really you would be surprised about the conversations we have while assisting with deliveries...)

Anyways, I love all the characterizations of all the "cast". I love how wonderfully marvelously evil Elijah is, and how Cate's character is so brilliantly complex and she is so clever (even though I know that she is in for a surprise, yes?). I am in complete love with Philosophy professor!Billy and how Dom's personality and sense of self has developed so much, especially in the newer threads. How they have changed each other and found comfort and are almost at peace with life when they are together.

I'm getting too carried away, so I just wanted to thank you for all your hard work and care you put into each of your characters. By the way, I have to say this: someone above mentioned something about the "Break-up" thread. I am so dreading it and yet I'm curious to see how, no doubtingly wonderfully heartbreaking, you'll pull it off. And one more thing- will we ever learn any more about Billy's past? There have bees subtle hints of it here and there.

Keep up the good work...and thanks again :)

I must admit to not having read every single thread - but not from lack of wanting, just because I'm horrible with fic reading lately. But oh, I love this whole universe nonetheless - I remember reading Dani's first drabbles and falling in love right away... And now it's turned into something so complex and wonderful, written by such incredibly talented (and lovely) people - the very fact of its existence makes me happy.

I've been reading the threads in this community since last year and loving every second of it. I love the weaving storylines and the world is just growing and being shaped by your talented minds. When I'm getting sick to death of bad writing and characterisation in the fandom, this is where I come back to, to remind myself that there are still talented people out there in fandom and I re-read the threads

Thank you for creating this world and allowing us to share in their stories. The love between Dom & Billy is just beautifully portrayed and I find myself feeling jealous over what they have. It's quite something to feel jealous of a fictional couple. You should all be proud.

I just got all caught up in Cate/Elijah: At her house thread and WOAH! That was intense! As much as I'm all about "Keep your hands off the Prof!!" I was actually feeling so badly for her! *shakes elijah* I love you kia, but OMG Cate should slap that little bastard a few more times!! *sigh*

*loves on you all a WHOLE lot*

Erm, heh.

Just reacting publicly. Never a good idea, I suppose. Oh well. Em, sorry?

Again, love you. And I think the milk’s a bit off.

out of context, it doesn't seem so much, but i just want to say that every time i read "briefcase notes" thread, i am struck dumb by the sheer warmth and domesticity that these few words evoke.

i just wanted to say that.

I've been trying to find my way into this college for some time now, but never really managed. Then [livejournal.com profile] zoniduck wrote this (http://www.livejournal.com/users/zoniduck/38829.html) entry, and gave me directions by way of 4 threads to start with.

omgomgomgomgomg!!! I'm now halfway the third thread she linked there and adjlja ljfajkjflk fklajljdd!!!

And I was so pleased to find the drabbles at the start of that thread, because I'd been wondering if something ever came of those. Ah, and Torrential!! I practically felt my fillings zinging from the electricity in the air [/bad metaphor].

*happy sigh*

I'm now going to read the second half of the third thread and then start on the fourth one. Just wanted you to know I'm enjoying this so thoroughly :D
